■ Our 41st Event — Entering Year 4, Staying True to the Essence

Shibuya Web3 University has entered its fourth year.

Since our inaugural event in January 2023, we have held a real event every single month at WeWork @ Shibuya Scramble Square — and before we knew it, we have arrived at our 41st event overall.

WeWork @ Shibuya Scramble Square — this is where it all began. And this is where we continue to grow.

Looking back at those who have taken the stage with us:

Noritaka Okabe of JPYC, Tatsuya Saito of Progmat, Mai Furukawa of XRPL Japan, Tokihiro Yoshida of HashPort, Kensuke Amo of Animoca Brands Japan, Takeshi Chino of Binance Japan, Masaaki Taira (then Chair of the LDP's Web3 Project Team), Hideto Kawasaki (Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Affairs), and even our special collaboration with Nomura Securities —

We have built up a learning community alongside the people moving Web3's social implementation forward at the front lines.

We have stayed true to our purpose, continuing to focus on what truly matters. While "Web3" remains our keyword, what we have always discussed is not technological theory, but implementation for people and society.

For our 41st event, we are holding a special collaboration seminar with WeWork — the very place that has supported our activities throughout this journey.

The event will open with a message from Keitaro Kumagai, Representative Director, President & CEO of WeWork Japan.

Then, Kozue Ehana, WeWork Community Manager, will share rich insights from the front lines of community building.

Taking on the most essential part of our theme is Aramu Mine, Chief Web3 Officer of Gaiax Co., Ltd. — a company that also serves as an advisor to Shibuya Web3 University. Mr. Mine previously joined us at our 3rd event in April 2023. Three years have passed since then. The environment surrounding Web3 has changed dramatically, and Gaiax's DAO implementation initiatives — including their partnerships with local governments — have advanced into a new phase.

Shibuya Web3 University, WeWork, and Mr. Mine as our keynote guest. This is a night where these three forces gather in one place to create synergy.

■ Why "Designing the Next Generation of DAOs," and Why Now?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The term DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) has long been discussed in the Web3 world. And today, its implementation is steadily moving forward.

Mr. Mine of Gaiax launched a DAO formation support business in 2022, and has since co-created DAOs with numerous regions — including the "Beautiful Village DAO" with Chizu Town in Tottori Prefecture and Matsuzaki Town in Shizuoka Prefecture.

He has also launched the "Gunma Yamaiku DAO," using the forests of Gunma Prefecture as a field to nurture new economic models and relationships together with local residents.

The knowledge that practitioners have accumulated through actually operating DAOs is now ready to advance to the next stage.

What about WeWork?

WeWork doesn't explicitly use the word "DAO." However, Community Manager Ms. Ehana shared this with us:

"At WeWork, leadership listens to the voice of the community, and members take ownership of WeWork as their own. The organization evolves through this circulation."

This embodies what truly matters for an organization to function.

And as Shibuya Web3 University enters its fourth year, we, too, feel strongly that we have grown together with our community.

Product → User → Community → Organization.

Value comes first, the community grows around it, and the organization takes shape from there. This sequence may offer one perspective for thinking about the DAOs of the future.

"Designing the Next Generation of DAOs" — this is not an event where we arrive with prepared answers. It is an event where three practitioners bring the views from their respective fields, and together with everyone in the audience, we shape the questions worth asking.

■ Another Axis — The Theme of "Regional Revitalization"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WeWork, Gaiax, and Shibuya Web3 University — perhaps without planning it, all three of us have been moving in the direction of "regional revitalization."

WeWork has expanded its locations across Japan, generating new ways of working and new flows of people in regional areas. Community Manager Ms. Ehana is currently engaged in creating a "related population" (kankei jinkō) for Kamikawa Town in Hokkaido, nurturing a sustainable future for the region by connecting people to people.

Mr. Mine of Gaiax has been launching DAOs together with local governments, walking alongside community members as they design new economic cycles and relationships.

Shibuya Web3 University, too, announced a "Web3 × Local Government" proof-of-concept project with Iizuka City in Fukuoka Prefecture at our 3rd anniversary event in February 2026, and has been moving full-scale into collaboration with municipalities.

"Web3 × Community × Regional Revitalization" — at the intersection of these three lies a glimpse of what society can become.

Believing this, the three of us will gather and engage in dialogue this evening.

After working at a real estate firm in development, transactions, and leasing, he gained extensive experience in J-REIT and other real estate investment management at Daiwa Real Estate Asset Management Co., Ltd.

He joined WeWork Japan GK in 2019. After working in the Real Estate division on opening WeWork locations, he concurrently took on responsibilities in the Sales division and was appointed Head of Real Estate & Sales. In April 2024, under the new structure of WWJ Co., Ltd. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of SoftBank Corp.), he was appointed COO (and concurrently Head of Real Estate & Sales). In March 2025, he was appointed Representative Director, President & CEO.

Kozue Ehana

Since WeWork entered Japan in 2018, she has worked as a Community Manager, connecting companies and individuals and creating spaces where new value emerges from human relationships. She has fostered countless moments where people from diverse backgrounds meet and where new business and bold challenges are born.

She is currently engaged in community development in Kamikawa Town, Hokkaido, where she leads efforts to "create a related population" by connecting people inside and outside the region. By designing flows and relationships among people, she takes on the challenge of nurturing a sustainable future for the region together with its residents.

She graduated from a university in the United States (Early Childhood Education / EQ) and from the College of Education at Tamagawa University (elementary school teaching license). She founded Tanemaku Co., Ltd. with the mission of "planting seeds of connection and creating spaces where people can engage as their authentic selves." She first became curious about DAOs and NFTs after encountering Shibuya Web3 University.

He began researching and developing blockchain in 2015. He has been involved in running the information site Blockchain Biz and has co-authored three books on the subject. In 2022, he launched a DAO formation support business. He has formed DAOs in collaboration with local governments and communities, including the "Beautiful Village DAO" with Chizu Town (Tottori) and Matsuzaki Town (Shizuoka), and the "Gunma Yamaiku DAO" based in the forests of Gunma Prefecture. He was also involved in establishing the Japan DAO Association and works to promote DAO adoption.
