Two years have passed since the "Eve of Revolution" envisioned for 2023, and the world of Web3 is steadily moving from ideal to practical use.
At that time, we had big dreams in the word DAO. Now we know that building a truly decentralized organization is not easy. However, it was not a setback, but a lesson to take a more solid step forward. The wisdom to overcome the wall between having an ideal and implementing it is collected here at Shibuya Web3 University.
Now in 2025, the world of Web3 has shifted from "buzzwords" to "use cases." NFTs and token economies have evolved from speculation to practical use, and blockchain has evolved from concept to foundational technology. What we are facing is the challenge of "total optimization," including not only technology but also institutions and culture.
Shibuya Web3 University is not just an educational institution. It is a place of practice, a community, and above all, a "testing ground for the future." Here, people gather who are not afraid of failure and take on challenges, make hypotheses, verify them, and then get back on their feet again and again.
As the president of the university, I will watch over you as you take on new challenges, accompany you at times, and always support you. The essence of Web3 is "decentralization" and "autonomy," but that does not mean "isolation." Connecting with each other, supporting each other, and growing together - that is the future we are aiming for.

I have a desire to take on new challenges I want to question existing frameworks I want to carve out my own path
I believe that deep down, everyone has a passion to achieve something. However, there are probably many people who are stuck in the gap between their ideals and reality.
Two years have passed since we got excited about the possibilities of Web3 in 2023. During this time, we have gone through a lot of trial and error and have reexamined the essence behind the buzzwords. We are learning from our daily practice that Web3 is not just a technology, but an idea that will redefine the way we live, work, and interact with society.
Initially, we saw revolutionary possibilities in the term DAO. Now, we understand that to build a truly decentralized organization, it is not just technology that is important, but also trust between people and shared values. We are exploring ways to realize "decentralization and cooperation" in its truest form, not just a formal Web3.
Shibuya Web3 University is not just a place to teach. It is a place where we think together, experiment together, fail together, and grow together. Here, theory and practice intersect, and ideas are transformed into concrete projects.
In the world of Web3, "trying" is more valuable than "knowing." Rather than striving for perfection, taking a step forward, even if it's imperfect, is the key to opening the next door.

Q1: How have the possibilities of Web3 changed in the last two years?
Initially, I was attracted by the potential of NFTs and crypto art. Now, two years later, I realize that the essence of Web3 is not "technology" but "rebuilding trust." The bubble-like excitement has subsided, and we are now in the era of "Web3 2.0," which emphasizes practicality and sustainability. There is a shift from speculative value to practical value, and creator economies and community-driven business models are steadily taking root. What is important is not simply the reason that it is "Web3," but the perspective of what and how can be improved in the conventional system. Technology is merely a means, and the goal is always to make people's lives better.
Q2: How has Shibuya Web3 University evolved over the past two years?
When we first launched, we were promoting "revolution," but now we are emphasizing "evolution" and "co-creation." Rather than trying to realize a completely decentralized organization all at once, we are playing the role of a "bridge builder" that connects existing systems with new values. In particular, we are pursuing the possibilities of "Japanese Web3" that utilizes Japan's cultural background, and are exploring approaches unique to Japan rather than simply importing overseas models. We have also gone one step further than being a mere educational institution, strengthening our function as an "incubator" that actually creates and nurtures projects. With both theory and practice, we are contributing to the creation of a sustainable Web3 ecosystem.
Q3: What do you think about the ideal and reality of DAO?
In 2023, DAOs were enthusiastically discussed as a symbol of "democratization of organizations." However, when actually operating, various issues became apparent, such as efficiency of decision-making, responsibility, and maintaining the motivation of participants. A fully decentralized autonomous organization is close to idealism at this point, and in reality, we believe that an organization that partially incorporates DAO elements is more effective. What's important is not the form, but how to implement the DAO spirit, such as "transparency," "inclusiveness," and "sense of shared ownership." Starting with a "small DAO" based on trust between people, not just technology, makes it possible to create a sustainable organization.
Q4: What kind of people would you like to join Shibuya Web3 University now?
We are looking for "realists who can talk about ideals." Someone who has high aspirations but can keep their feet on the ground and move forward step by step. Someone who has the ability to see the essence of things, rather than being swayed by buzzwords. And above all, someone who has the courage to experiment without fear of failure. No one knows the right answer in the world of Web3 yet. That's why it's important to accept that you don't know, but continue to challenge yourself. In particular, we welcome people who have experience that can act as a bridge with existing industries, and who can collaborate while respecting different values. It's not just special geniuses who move the pieces of the times forward, but "ordinary passionate people" who never give up.
Q5: Has your attitude as "Spicy Girl（gekikara-cyan）" changed?
The origin of the name remains the same, but my understanding of "spicy" may have changed a little. In the past, I pursued "an exciting and unpredictable life," but now I also value "spiciness that matures slowly." I have come to see value not only in revolutionary change, but also in evolutionary growth. I am more conscious of making "delicious spicy" than just "super spicy." I think that it is not only the stimulation, but also the depth and durability that make it remain in people's hearts. My attitude of questioning common sense remains the same, but I also value the flexibility to evolve while incorporating good things rather than rejecting everything. My style now is to pursue "deliciousness" that can be accepted by more people without losing the essential "spicy."

Q1: Why do you think Web3 has potential?
It all started when I sold the works of artists I produce as crypto art using NFTs. NFTs can permanently guarantee the uniqueness of works using Web3 blockchain technology, and can also provide a mechanism for returning profits from resales to artists under a "creator first" approach. NFTs can solve problems that have been viewed as problems in the buying and selling and distribution of artworks, and realize equal value exchange. I felt that the concept of Web3 has the potential to change all the systems in the world that we have taken for granted up until now.
Q2: How do you want to change Japan with Shibuya Web 3 University?
We want to nurture challengers who can compete on a global scale. Now that the world is connected by networks, it would be a huge missed opportunity to remain in Japan alone. The turning point to a new era is an opportunity to create companies from Japan that have the power to surpass GAFAM.
One of the visions I have when I started Shibuya Web3 University is that "everyone has value and has moments when they can shine. I want to create a society where minorities can also shine." I believe that Web3 can create an era where individuals can demonstrate their strengths, regardless of borders, race, or age.
Q3: What are the strengths of Shibuya Web 3 Universities?
We have hosted Web3 events many times, and the people who gather there question the status quo and are filled with a desire to create a new future; they are like revolutionaries. By bringing together individuals with the will, we can gain the power to transcend dimensions. Shibuya Web3 University is a place where the power of the individual can be maximized.
Q4: What kind of people would you like to participate?
We are looking for people who have something they want to do. Even if you have a desire or dream to change something, you will lose opportunities while you are hesitating, thinking "I don't know where to start" or "I can't achieve it alone." By participating in Shibuya Web3 University, you will be able to clarify what you need to do now and accelerate your realization at a rapid pace.
Q5: Why is it called "Super Spicy"?
I love super spicy food, and this is the handle name I've been using since my live streaming days. There's a sense of accomplishment when you finish eating something spicy. I don't like doing routine work or living within a set framework. I want to create my own rules and live an exciting and fun life where you don't know what's going to happen next.
